The monument of the patriot Çerçiz Topulli has been restored in the main square in the museum area of the city of Gjirokastra.
The bronze monument was moved at the start of the works for the rehabilitation of the “Çerçiz Topulli” square and the construction of the underground parking lot.
Finally, the monument has been returned to the marble pedestal, which is also undergoing restoration.
The bronze monument of Çerçiz Topulli was placed in the square in 1934 and is the work of the sculptor Odise Paskali.
For its realization, the residents of the city contributed financially as well as the emigrants from Gjirokastria.
The monument is one of the symbols that identifies the city of Gjirokastra.
The patriot Çerçiz Topulli led one of the anti-Ottoman patriotic squads in the south of the country, which entered history with the murder of the Turkish child in Gjirokastra and the Maskullora War in March 1908.
