“Volkswagen” is now the preferred car brand for Albanians. Data from the Institute of Statistics show that more people are buying this brand, leaving the well beloved “Mercedes Benz” behind.

Only in the first three months of 2023, the car stock in the country has increased by 8%. 14,460 new vehicles belonging to 276 brands were registered.

Data shows that 20,4% of the new registered cars belong to “Volkswagen”, while 16,3% belong to “Mercedes Benz”.

Tirana has the highest number of new vehicles registered in the first trimester of the year, followed by Durrës, Fier, Elbasan and Shkodër.

Cities that registered the lowest numbers of new vehicles are Dibër, Gjirokastër and Kukës.

Statistics show that Albanians still prefer “cars”, at 83,5% of the registered vehicles, followed by “motorcycles” at 6.9%.
