A lot of tourists who have come to Albania have also boosted cultural tourism.
The data of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment show an increase of about 70% in visits to castles, museums and archaeological parks. The measurements were made for the first 6 months of the year, resulting in 326,000 visits. Meanwhile, in the first part of 2022, Albanian cultural monuments were seen by 215 thousand people.
Among the institutions that have recorded a greater increase in visits are the Castle of Gjirokastër, Butrint and the Archaeological Park of Shkodër.
Even the income from the sale of tickets has increased this year, where 98.2 million lek were collected in June alone, or 60% more than in June 2022.
Interest in touristic Albania has also appeared in natural parks and protected areas.
The strong increase in the number of tourists, where in 7 months according to INSTAT, 5.2 million citizens entered our territory, is expected to end with record figures for the rest of the year, which will consequently expand visits and income to cultural institutions in place.
