The mayor of Polican, Adriatik Zotkaj, rang the alarm bells about the ongoing wildfires that have been scorching the Mountain of Tomorr for several days now, putting the lives of around 1 500 residents at risk.
According to Zotkaj, over 30 hectares of land have been smothered by the flames, bringing about great environmental damages because the area, stricken by the fires is filled with tall trees, vegetation and wildlife.
The flames are currently ongoing on a latitude of 2400 meters above sea level and because of a lack of resources needed to work at such latitude, the fire-extinguishers are working at a height of only 700 meters.
2 fire extinguishers and one helicopter are currently working on putting off the fires, but according to the mayor of Polican, these capacities aren’t enough because the winds are moving in favor of the wildfires, which is why he is calling for an immediate intervention by the army.
