The National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) has issued a public warning over an increase in phishing attacks on WhatsApp, with citizens receiving fraudulent messages and links aimed at taking control of their accounts.

According to the authority, attackers send messages that appear official and request verification codes, or redirect users to fake authentication pages, putting users’ personal data at risk.

The authority urges users to remain vigilant and follow these security measures:

  • Do not click on suspicious links
  • Do not share verification codes, even if the message appears official
  • Check linked devices on WhatsApp (Settings → Linked Devices)
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)

The National Cybersecurity Authority emphasizes that vigilance and the reporting of suspicious cases are essential to preventing such cyberattacks. For more information and official recommendations regarding similar phishing campaigns, citizens are encouraged to consult the informational materials published by the relevant authorities.
