Milk and its by-products have been put in the focus of the National Food Authority’s controls, to prevent abuse or damage to consumer health with unsafe products.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, the director of the highest quality and food safety spokesperson, informs that she has launched an in-depth investigation, monitoring and verification program regarding the import of powdered milk, the import of vegetable fats and how they are used in food technology.

“25 importing entities have been verified, 40 processing entities are in the process of verification. Until now, we are compiling 3 files that will go to the prosecutor’s office for food fraud with milk by-products,” said the director of NFA, Jeta Deda.

The products found by NFA to be in violation have not been on the market, but have been stopped since production.

“What is written on the label is not the same as what is declared and reflected in the analysis report. We have prevented these products from being placed on the market. We are not only checking what enters the Albanian market internally, but also what enters us from outside,” said Deda.

The director of the NFA, while ensuring the food products that we consume on a daily basis, also seeks the help of consumers to denounce at any time, the irregularities they encounter while making purchases.

Controls are extended not only to manufacturing entities, but also to all products sold in large outlets or small shops.
