New agreement anticipated with the Government for a series of USAID projects

The Minister of Finance of Albania, Ervin Mete, held an official meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Tirana, David Wisner.

During the meeting, discussions took place regarding the possibilities for enhancing economic cooperation between Albania and the United States.

Minister Mete appreciated the support that the United States has provided and continues to provide for the implementation of significant reforms in the country.

Mete expressed that the Albanian Government welcomes the increase in American investments in various sectors of the economy in Albania.

The participants emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation and relations between the two countries, also as allies in NATO.

In this regard, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana expressed readiness to continue supporting Albania, which, in the 2024 budget, for the first time, reached 2% of GDP for the defense sector as a commitment to NATO.

Additionally, Wisner reaffirmed the continuation of U.S. support for Albania through USAID financing programs, where a new agreement with the Albanian Government for a series of projects is anticipated.
