New Albanian political party created in North Macedonia, headed by the former deputy of the opposition party “Alternativa’, Skënder Rexhepi.

With this new movement, the number of Albanian parties in North Macedonia reaches 9. Political analysts evaluate this situation as positive for the voters who will have more elections, but they are afraid of the drop in political weight and the seriousness of the process.

“From the point of view of the voter, are ten or fifteen parties problematic, I believe they are not. For the voter, there will be more choices, more nuances to cast the vote, and this has no way of being problematic. Will the votes be distributed? Experience shows that no matter what happens, two or three blocks are created in the end. So the possibilities for elections are not how many parties there are, but how many coalitions there are, and I believe that this will happen this time as well”, says political analyst Besim Nebiu.

Even the journalist Isen Saliu is afraid that with this high number of parties, the weight of the Albanians’ political action may be lower.

“The new parties that are being formed are clearly showing their affiliation to the political camps. They are showing which ones are in the opposition camp and which ones are with the government. Therefore, I think that there can be no confusion among the Albanian voter who is more afraid that they can divide the Albanian vote. I think it would be good for the formation of these parties to create a normal situation, a normal political order for the Albanians of Macedonia, where for a long time it has been functioning as a one-party system”, says Isen Saliu, journalist.

There are currently 8 Albanian parties operating in the political scene of North Macedonia, where the largest party is the Democratic Union for Integration led by Ali Ahmeti.
