The Albanian Parliament held its first plenary session of the new legislature today, officially marking the start of work for the new Parliament.
The session opened with the presentation of the report by the Temporary Commission for the Verification of Mandates, which reviewed the legal validity of the mandates of the newly elected MPs. After the report was approved, all MPs took the solemn oath, officially assuming their roles as representatives in Parliament.
Following this, the most important item on the agenda was the process for electing the new Speaker of Parliament. The Socialist Party, which holds the majority in Parliament, proposed Niko Peleshi as the candidate to lead the Assembly.
