The measures taken by the French and British authorities to curb illegal immigration from Albania to Great Britain have not reduced the activity of criminal groups that organized illegal crossings of Albanians.

On the contrary, the strengthening of control in the English Channel has made smugglers find other alternative routes with the final destination Great Britain.

The British newspaper “The Telegraph” writes that the new route starts from Spain and ends in Portsmouth, where traffickers receive 14,000 pounds per person, 3 times the payment they received when the English Channel was used as a crossing route.

Those interested are informed mainly through social networks including tik-tok*, introducing them with images of trucks, ferries and the British capital, including the London Eye.

The border and immigration watchdog in the United Kingdom has also reported an increase in the number of illegal immigrants trying to enter the UK via Portsmouth and Poole.

In the first 5 months of this year, the number of Albanians crossing the border illegally decreased significantly, due to an agreement signed between the British and Albanian governments for the return of illegal immigrants.
