President Ilir Meta has decreed Asim Vokshi as the new member of the High Court of Albania.
The recent appointment brings the court its ninth member, out of the nineteen required.
In the argument used in the decree, the president expressed his reservations on the activities of the High Judicial Council and Assembly and their delays in constituting the High Court.
According to the Meta, the delays have been “intentional” and held them in a “continuous political pressure”.
Asim Vokshi previously was a judge at the Tirana’s Court of Appeal and is also a member of the Electoral College.
It was the Independent Qualification Commission that confirmed him in duty last June.
