Nisma Thurje has started the protest at “Avni Rustemi” square, at Pazari i Ri.

The initiative has presented a symbolic statue to name the square “Fan Noli”.

Likewise, the Thurje initiative demands the removal from Tirana of all busts honoring historical figures who are known for murder or assassination.

According to them, the time has come to break away from the legacy of the communist regime that filled Tirana with busts of partisans.

“We had substitutions which for us are unacceptable. We should not think that people like Siri Kodra, Avni Rustemi or others will be an example for the youth, they should be removed immediately and directly and replaced with other names. We are talking about names that have broken the Albanian borders and are known all over the world for their feats. We are talking about people who did not even spare their lives, about people who fought for this country. We have proposed that this square bear the name of Fan Noli, a national pride” – said one of the protesters.
