The EU and US Special Envoys for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak and Matthew Palmer will meet today with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
In an earlier interview on Kosovo’s public broadcaster, Palmer declared that there are no deadlines when it comes to the dialogue, however added that prolonging the process makes it increasingly more difficult.
“The United States wants an agreement concluding with mutual recognition”, Palmer said.
Regarding the Association of Serb Municipalities, Palmer reiterated that the parties involved in the dialogue must respect the agreements signed so far.
“I understand that there are parameters in the agreement that need to be discussed but this shouldn’t hamper the process. I will not tell you what Kosovo should do. It is the government of Kosovo that decides how to approach the matter”, said the US Special Envoy at the dialogue.
Furthermore, Palmer dismissed the idea that the agenda will involve talks on border changes.
“It is not up to me to draw the red lines in this process. The Kosovar side has been quite clear on this matter”, concluded Palmer.
