The number of foreign tourists visiting Kosovo has been increasing from year to year.

According to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, in January of this year, there were more visitors in hotels than a year earlier.

“In January 2024, the number of visitors (local and foreign) in hotels was 77,295, of which 42.1% were local and 57.8% were foreign. Compared to January 2023 (when there were 51,253 visitors), there was an overall increase in the number of visitors in hotels by 50.8%.”

The number of overnight stays was 152,051, of which 38.5% were by locals and 61.4% were by foreigners.

The largest number of domestic visitors in hotels was in the Peja region with 19,472 visitors and 33,080 overnight stays.

“Regarding foreign visitors, compared to the previous period (January 2023), there is an increase in visitors by 50.8%. In total, there were 77,295 foreign visitors, with the largest number coming from Albania, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, etc.”

According to the Tourism Union, institutions play a significant role in promoting Kosovo as they need to allocate more budget and prioritize tourism. For this reason, the Union appeals to institutions to increase funding for tourism as it is one of the main pillars of the country’s economy and employment.

According to the Union, the more visitors there are, the more positive impact there will be on businesses and the state.

Soon, the Republic of Kosovo will have its official tourism logo and slogan, as these symbols are aimed at developing tourism in the coming years.

Kosovo will also be promoted through international fairs, where tourism operators participate, promoting and selling tourist offers for Kosovo through the Tourism Registry – an electronic platform providing information for entities operating in the field of tourism in the Republic of Kosovo, through digital platforms.

Meanwhile, the third edition of the International Tourism Fair, “Kosova 2024”, will be held on April 12-13, with over 300 exhibiting companies presenting their products from 15 European countries.
