Olive oil factories this year are facing a decrease in the amount of olives being processed, compared to last year.

In Berat, which is the county with the highest production of olive oil, it is predicted that this situation will lead to an increase in the price of olive oil that will be released on the market this season.

“The low production of olives has also been felt in our factory, this is known because the flow and quantity is very small”, said Xhentila Dellani, olive oil processor

“We believe, we are still early because we have only been open for 15 days and the production of the olive oil has not yet started but I do not believe that there will be a shortage of oil for the domestic market but it will have a pretty high price compared to last year.”

According to the processor, this year meets the market’s requirements for domestic consumption, although at a high price, while the export is expected to be in small quantities compared to last year.

The low production of olives this year is a phenomenon that has affected all of Albania.
