Olive farmers seek support from institutions. They say that they need subsidies and market guarantees.
“Olives are the main source of income for many farmers in the Fier District, but this year’s low production in Albania, as well as the lack of labor, have made farmers seek more support for this important sector of agriculture.” – said the farmer.
While others added:
“There is no support from the state, no one has come to see what is being done.
“The state should support those who have invested because it is a national asset and you should subsidize it”
Farmers say that this year is one of the most difficult as far as is concerned about olive production. Atmospheric conditions, but also the lack of labor, have influenced to have a poor ranking.
As the only way they provide a living, they say that this situation is turning into an alarming one, since they cannot even cover the expenses that olive production requires.
