This Monday in the city of Himara, a protest is being held in support of the mayor of Himare Fredi Beleri, who has been in custody since May 12.

The secretary of the “Omonia” a social, political and cultural organization in Albania that promotes minority rights for the Greek minority in the south of the country, Marin Suli, has kept his word in the protest that is taking place in Himare for the release of Fredi Beleri from prison.

He emphasized that the square where the protest is taking place will be called “Freedom Square” on the day that Beleri will be released from prison.

Suli underlined that the political prison of the renaissance will not be able to keep Beleri behind bars for long.

“From today, thanks to you, this square has a new name, it is the square of the dignity of freedom. On the first day of Fredi Beleri’s freedom, this square will bear the name “Liberty Square”. I want to thank you for the chance you’ve given us the power to run Himare for the next four years. The will of the majority fortunately went astray by keeping Fredi Beleri in prison. The political and renaissance prison will not be able to hold Beleri for long. He will be the head of the Municipality of Himare. The black hand of the villains will not keep the mayor away from the City Hall office. Our victory, Fredi’s victory is indisputable. There are 4 thousand Himare citizens who voted for Beleri. Release him before the wrath of the Himare citizens takes you. We have chosen our destiny and our leader” – he said.
