On October 1st, the Social Security Agreement between Albania and Switzerland enters into force. The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama through a post on social networks.
“This agreement will offer the citizens of both countries the right to enjoy the full benefits of their contributions. The ratification of the agreement with Italy will be soon,” Rama wrote on Instagram.
Albania and Italy have completed the technical negotiation of the agreement on pensions. About 500 thousand Albanians working in Italy will benefit, when the agreement is approved in the parliaments of the two countries.
The process for recognition of contributions started in 2014 and is now nearing completion. The issue has remained hostage to the negotiations of both parties for many years due to the large number of Albanian immigrants living in Italy
