Out of 848 re-registrations in driving schools for individuals who lost points on their licenses due to violations, a low percentage managed to reclaim it and return to the road as drivers.
The General Directorate of Road Transport Services announced that the implementation of the 2022 legal acts, which intensified measures against individuals who do not adhere to traffic rules, has resulted in the re-education not leading to the reacquisition of the driving license by all those who lost it.
“All those considered serious offenders of traffic rules, repeat offenders in behavior that endangers themselves and others on the road, after the removal of license points, with the new acts in force for over a year now, to regain the right to drive a vehicle, they must re-register from the beginning at a driving school and undergo the theory-practical test again!
Only 113 out of 848 re-registrations in driving schools due to license point deductions have regained their Driving License during the period from June 2022 to January 2024!
In the last session held, out of 25 re-registrations, 14 candidates appeared, and only 2 of them emerged as winners! 848 re-registrations in driving schools, and only 13.3% of them return to the road as drivers, this time even more responsibly,” says the announcement from the General Directorate.
According to the legal framework, all citizens who were issued a driving license before April 16, 2015, and are part of the National Registry of Vehicle Drivers, are granted 20 points in the system. For drivers who became part of the National Registry of Vehicle Drivers after April 16, 2015, the 20-point number is given on the date they become part of this registry.
The deduction of points is done automatically in the system based on notifications of violations of the behavior norms as stipulated in Chapter V of the Traffic Code.
All those who lose points on their licenses are obliged according to the current legal framework to return to driving school and follow the normal theoretical and practical re-education course, while after completion, they will have to undergo the same test as any first-time registrant. The theory test, based on behavior norms, consists of 30 questions, and with more than 3 mistakes, one does not pass. Measures for the re-education of problematic drivers aim to discipline them on the road.
