Operation “Strings” | 20 cameras dismounted in several cities, 8 people under investigation

The police have seized 20 cameras as part of the 13th phase of the coded police operation “Fijet/Strings”.

During this phase, another 20 cameras, installed in violation of the law, were dismantled and seized in Diber, Korce, Tirana and Durres.

Meanwhile, 8 citizens are now under investigation for violation of privacy and they will need to legally document their purpose behind installing these cameras.

At the national level, the number of dismantled cameras is 548 and the number of citizens under investigation is 116.

“In Peshkopia, following several ground patrols, 7 cameras installed in violation of the law were dismantled, and investigations were initiated for the citizen R. D. In total, so far, in the Diber district, 13 cameras have been dismantled and investigations have been initiated for 5 citizens.

In the cities of Korca and Pogradec, following similar checks, 6 cameras were dismantled and investigations were initiated for the citizens S. M., J. Xh., A. Ç. and Th. M. In total, until now, in the Korca district, 67 cameras have been dismantled and investigations have been initiated for 28 citizens. 

In Tirana, 4 cameras were dismantled and investigations were initiated for citizens E. Ll. and E. C. In total, until now, in the Tirana region, 224 cameras have been dismantled and investigations have been initiated for 46 citizens.

In Durres, following ground patrols, 3 cameras were dismantled and investigations were initiated for the citizen D. M. In total until now, in the Durres region, 57 cameras were dismantled and investigations were initiated for 12 citizens,” the police announcement said.
