The EU Delegation in Tirana has reacted to the opposition protest that took place on Sunday. In its response to Euronews Albania, the delegation emphasized that the use of violence cannot be justified and that all actors must distance themselves from it.

“The EU Delegation in Tirana reiterates that everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly, as provided for in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The use of violence cannot be justified for any reason, and all actors must distance themselves from it. The EU Delegation also recalls that the opposition has an important role to play in parliament and in the democratic life of the country, including—and especially—in the context of fundamental reforms,” the statement said.
