The United States Embassy in Tirana has warned American citizens regarding the protest planned by the Democratic Party, which will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 18:00, on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, between Skanderbeg Square and Mother Teresa Square.
Protesters are expected to initially gather near the Prime Minister’s Office, but the demonstration may spread to surrounding streets. The State Police has announced that several intersections may be blocked, and an increased police presence, road closures, and traffic disruptions are expected during the hours of the protest.
The U.S. Embassy has advised American citizens and its staff to avoid the demonstration area and to follow the instructions of local authorities. Meanwhile, citizens are advised to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and have an emergency plan or exit strategy from crowded areas.
The embassy’s notice emphasizes that although protests often begin peacefully, the situation can change quickly, potentially causing blockages, detours, and traffic interruptions.
Citizens are warned to avoid using phones or headphones that may distract their attention and to continuously monitor local media for updated information.
