The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, who currently chairs the Presidency of the European Union (EU), is on a two-day visit to North Macedonia, together with his entire Government.

Before the one-on-one meeting with his Macedonian counterpart, Hristijan Mickoski, Orban stood by the press center at the Ohrid hotel, where an intergovernmental conference kicked off on Friday morning.

Orban drank morning coffee, made phone calls and read documents on the hotel terrace, from where he then headed towards the prime minister’s villa, which is located nearby.

He started his visit to North Macedonia on Thursday and since then several bilateral meetings have been held at the ministerial level.

As the Government announces, on the sidelines of the two-day visit, a walk in Ohrid, a visit to the church of the Virgin Perivlepta, the Antique Theater and the complex of the monastery of Saint Naum are planned. The two prime ministers will place flowers in front of the monument of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Ohrid.

Security around the hotel is at the highest level. A heavy police presence can be seen and the region is covered from the air by a police helicopter. Police teams have been deployed across the city.
