The leader of Vetëvendosje and at the same time the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a press conference this Friday regarding the constitutional deadlock over the election of the President of the Republic of Kosovo.

He said that he does not accept the decree issued by President Vjosa Osmani, stating that he is waiting for a decision from the Constitutional Court.

“If the president is not elected after six days, then the Assembly should be dissolved. This provision sets a maximum deadline. There must be a failure of the third round for the Assembly to be dissolved.

Without the Constitutional Court speaking, we cannot talk about new elections. If the president is not elected, the Assembly cannot be dissolved.

If the president is not elected, the country cannot go to elections. The decree to dissolve the Assembly is not constitutional,” Kurti said.
