The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated in a joint media conference with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, that she requested the removal of the measures imposed by the EU.
According to Osmani, Kosovo is maximally engaged to reduce tensions with Serbia and to normalize relations referring to the suggestions of international allies.
“At the meeting, I emphasized the importance and necessity of removing the measures imposed on Kosovo. Over the past months, our institutions have shown not only concrete commitment to improving the situation, but also full commitment to continuous cooperation and coordination with our allies and partners.
At the same time, our institutions have taken the necessary steps to guarantee new and free elections, but unfortunately, the address of these obstacles continues to remain in Belgrade. In addition to collective global challenges, I emphasized that the complex challenges that the Republic of Kosovo is going through are the result of Serbia’s destabilizing efforts. Only in the last few weeks have we witnessed these destabilizing ambitions that resulted in the act of aggression against the Republic of Kosovo on September 24, which was carried out by terrorist, paramilitary groups of Serbia.
As I expressed to von der Leyen, we must be united to reject violence as a means of achieving malicious goals that undermine the very values on which the EU is built. Kosovo is committed to respecting its Constitution, which offers the most advanced rights to non-majority communities not only in the region but throughout our continent,” said Osmani.
Osmani addressed a call to Serbia to extradite all persons involved in the September 24 terrorist attack in the north of Kosovo.
