The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has met with Pope Leo XIV at the Holy See. Osmani shared details from the meeting, describing her visit to the Vatican as a special honor. She also emphasized that she invited the Pope to visit Kosovo.

“During the meeting, I once again conveyed my warmest congratulations on the beginning of his mission, as well as my hope that his pontificate will bring light, courage, and support to people in need around the world. I also extended a heartfelt invitation for him to visit the Republic of Kosovo, a visit that would be warmly welcomed by all our citizens,” Osmani wrote.

The President said she discussed with the Pope Kosovo’s role, the deepening of cooperation, and the request for the Holy See to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

“We discussed the role of Kosovo, our Dardanian land, as a country that has built peace and interfaith harmony based on its historical experience of resistance and sacrifice. We also discussed deepening cooperation in areas that directly affect the well-being of our citizens, with the hope that the Holy See will soon take the long-awaited decision to formally recognize the Republic of Kosovo,” she added.

Osmani said that Kosovo remains committed to strengthening relations with the Holy See and advancing their historic friendship.

“In the spirit of the Christmas holiday, we shared common wishes for peace and harmony throughout the world,” she concluded.
