The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met in Washington the US Assistant Secretary of State, James O’Brien, with whom she said she discussed the importance of close cooperation with American allies in overcoming common challenges.

“Together, we also discussed the latest developments in the dialogue with Serbia and the importance of the role of the USA for the success of this process,” Osmani wrote on Facebook.

She is in the USA at the invitation of the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to participate in an activity on women, peace and security, which is held within the framework of the NATO Summit.

The summit, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the military alliance, is held from July 9 to 11.

O’Brien, on several occasions, has called on Kosovo and Serbia to implement the agreements reached by the talks between them.

“To move forward, we need the implementation of EU-brokered agreements, including ‘urgent progress’ on the steps leading to the establishment of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian majority,” O’Brien said in April of this year.

At the end of June, he also said that Serbia has promised that Milan Radoicic, who has accepted responsibility for organizing the attack in Banjska – the northern part of Kosovo – will face justice.

The attack happened in September last year and Radoicic is believed to be free in Serbia.

His submission was one of the conditions that the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, issued to continue the high-level dialogue with Serbia.
