About 1 million Albanians are on the verge of poverty. Divided into categories, families and individuals, many of them have difficulties in loan payments, as individuals do not have access to the Internet and opportunities for new clothes every month.
“Not poor, but not rich by the standards of the rich billionaire. Buying new clothes seems like an unnecessary luxury to me, but I manage to pay debts”, says a citizen.
Another case is that of a pensioner who says that he manages with the expenses he has.
“Poor, retired, I still have my new clothes from the army. I pay the rent, the lights are on, I pay my expenses, we eat bread and tea,” he said.
Another elderly woman shares her opinion that she feels good in the conditions in which she is.
“As long as I have children I am average, I feel good”, said the citizen.
INSTAT data show that 42.1% in Albania are poor. Of the 2.4 million in our country, it turns out that over 1 million Albanians cannot afford 7 of the 13 categories of deprivation.
Compared to the region, our country has the highest percentage of poverty, followed by Montenegro with 343.1%, North Macedonia with 32.6%.
