Local elections in North Macedonia will take place on October 17.
301 candidates are competing in the mayoral race, of which 8.31% are women.
12 candidates are running to get elected in Skopje, and 8 for the municipality of Struga and Dollnen respectively.
In the race, there are also 24 independent candidates.
Over 10,600 are aspiring to win the race for city councils.
A first in these elections will be the use of fingerprint scanning devices, in order to identify and register voters.
Also, authorities are looking for ways to allow citizens whose IDs have expired, or those who had not initially enrolled in the list of voters, to cast their vote.
A total of 122 parties, including coalitions and independent lists, are racing for the country’s eight municipalities.
