On July 3, the Albanian Parliament will hold its final session, marking the official close of the 10th legislature.
For 82 members of this legislature, Thursday, July 3 will be the last time they take their seats in the parliamentary hall. The upcoming session is the final plenary meeting before Parliament dissolves for the summer break, ahead of returning in September under a new legislative composition.
One of the key bills expected to be passed in this final session is the Co-ownership in Residential Buildings Act, which the government has deemed essential for streamlining legal procedures. The legislation introduces joint responsibilities for maintenance and management of shared spaces in residential buildings.
The proposed changes also foresee the creation of a “co-ownership register” by local authorities, serving as an official document to recognize the owners of shared spaces. The new law formalizes this arrangement, officially recognizing these areas as co-owned by residents and outlining specific responsibilities for each individual.
In September, the new parliamentary configuration will take shape. The Socialist Party will hold 83 seats, the Democratic Party 50, and the Social Democratic Party 3.
Additionally, three new political parties that secured mandates in the May 11 elections will join the chamber: the Opportunity Party will have 2 seats, while Together Movement and Albania Can will each have 1 seat.
