The former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Albania, Paskal Milo stated during Euronews Albania’s panel show Ilva Now, that the decision of the US Department of State regarding Sali Berisha should be read as a “warning” for all politicians in the country.
According to Milo, the US Department of State’s decision is damaging for the entire country because one of the most important politicians in the country’s has taken a hit; a politician, who has led the main initiatives of our country’s democratic processes.
“It is an extraordinary event for Albanian politics; the first pioneer of democratic processes in our country is now morally standing before a very serious accusation. From a personal perspective this can’t be a good thing, but also in a way for Albania. A decision regarding the former President and former PM of Albania has been taken. I wouldn’t wish for Albanians to get divided, some against and some in favor of this matter, for one side to rejoice and another laments,” said Milo.
The renowned historian, also added that this decision taken by the US department of state is “a warning to all those that have been and still are politicians in Albania, to self-refrain and to self-control and to take lessons from this”.
According to Milo “this event isn’t left to chance, it is a well-thought out action and announced exactly after the elections, because before the elections, the voters could have been influenced.
