The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has criticized the government of Prime Minister Albin Kurti claiming that it does not have a concrete plan for the new academic year.

According to the Democrats, the new school year is in peril, and students risk returning to classes altogether.

Muzafer Shala from PDK told media during a press conference that the Education Ministry must look consider continuing online school and blamed the government’s mismanagement for school closures.

“Today, around 25,000 pupils should have shown up for their first day of school, but unfortunately due to bad management, kids are at home, and schools are closed. There exists no plan for the beginning of the new school year”, said Shala.

Last Saturday, the government of Kosovo announced that it had decided to postpone the beginning of all classes to September 13 amid a deteriorating epidemiological situation.

On Wednesday, twenty-two people died from COVID-19, while 1,894 tested positive.
