A representation of disabled people gathered today in Elbasan, in a mini-protest to present some of their demands and complaints.

On this day, which should serve for the rights that these people should enjoy, just like the rest of society, they presented the difficulties regarding the payment they receive, not being able to afford living, despite the fact that some of them also have a higher education.

“Today we have gathered on this international day for persons with disabilities, but not to celebrate, but to protest the violation of our rights. We are not looking for a life of luxury, but we are looking for a dignified life with equal rights like the whole society. We cannot ask for alms, but we want what is due to us. Even in the region, there are no disabled people who receive this ridiculous salary. What can we get with this salary that has not been increased for 14 years”, – Trifon Kushta.

On the other hand, the vicissitudes that a caregiver needs to take care of a person with different abilities 24 hours a day are great. With the payment of 120,000 lek that they receive, it is not worth anything.

In Elbasan, there are 350 paraplegics and quadriplegics, and the barriers for them to have a life like everyone else are numerous.
