Albania ranks 83rd in the world in terms of per capita income measured in U.S. dollars and 85th in per capita income based on purchasing power parity (PPP) for the year 2025.
The data were published on the official website of the International Monetary Fund, and both indicators place Albania among the lowest-ranked countries in Europe.
In 2025, per capita income relative to the size of the economy reached $11,000. At this level, Albania has surpassed North Macedonia, with $10,400, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with $9,500, whereas in previous years it had ranked below them.
Within the region, Serbia leads with a per capita income of $15,300, surpassing Montenegro, which stands at $14,900. Meanwhile, Kosovo continues to be the poorest country in Europe, with a per capita income of $8,040.
In recent years, Albania has benefited from the depreciation of the euro and the U.S. dollar, which has automatically increased the population’s per capita income.
