The State Police has published this Tuesday the plan of measures that have been taken to make the visit of the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Tirana a success.

The plan of measures envisages the blocking of a number of streets in the capital as well as the prohibition of parking in them starting from the evening of this Wednesday.

Starting from 19:30 this Wednesday until 20:00 on 15.02.2024, on the streets “Faik Konica”, “Dervish Hima”, “Ismail Qemali” (in front of the Presidency of the Assembly), “Gjergj Filipi”, ” Lek Dukagjini”, Rruga e Elbasani, “Papa Gjon Pali II”, boulevard “Bajram Curri”, boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit”, as well as ” Ukraina e Lirë” street (Constitutional Court), parking of vehicles on the street will be prohibited and in the designated parking spaces.

Listed below are the interurban and urban roads where traffic is expected to be closed during the time slots 09:30-12:30 and 17:30-20:00 on Thursday:

1. Secondary interurban Fushë Prezë-Rinas;
2. Secondary interurban Rinas-Qafë Kashar and vice versa;
3. Main interurban Qafë Kashar – former Shqiponja square and vice versa;
4. Main interurban former Shqiponja square -Teg-Sanatorium and vice versa;
5. Elbasani Street, “Dervish Hima” Street, “Faik Konica” Street, “Papa Gjon Pali II” Street, “Ismail Qemali” Street, “Themistokli Germenji” Street, “Abdyl Frashëri” Street, ” Ukraina e Lirë ” Street, “Gjergj Filipi”, “Dëshmorët e Kombit ” boulevard and “Bajram Curri” boulevard.

…The police have also published alternative routes that can be used by citizens who want to go to the airport, or those people who will have an emergency.

“Citizens who want to go to “Mother Teresa” (Nënë Tereza) airport, on 15.02.2024, from Durrës and the north, will respectively follow the direction Vorë-Fushë Prezë-Rinas and return, Fushë Krujë-Fushë Prezë-Rinas and return, while from southeast and Tirana, will follow the eastern ring-‘Pharmacy 10’-Train Station-Bulevardi i Ri (New Boulevard)-Paskuqan-Kamëz-Valias-Rinas Airport, and return to the same itinerary.

For medical emergencies that may affect schedules and congestion, follow secondary and other routes to the respective hospitals, different from those that will be traversed by the American delegation.

The State Police asks for the understanding of all citizens for the security measures and appeals to avoid the circulation of road vehicles in the schedules and roads where movement restrictions are foreseen, for security purposes”, the police announcement states.
