Prime Minister Edi Rama declared today that he has reflected as regards the National Theater, and has decided to rebuild the building as it was, but not in the same place.
During the parliamentary session, PM Rama said that this building will not function as a theater.
“We will take the original project and we will return it, not to the Alliance for Politics with the theater, not to artists or politician artists, but we will return it to the children, as part of a big program. We will have it among us, but not in the same place and not as a theater”, said the head of the government.
The National Theater was demolished on May 17 and it was followed by protests of civil society activists, artists, citizens and politicians. On Wednesday they demanded the National Theater built in the same way and in the same location as it used to be.
The Alliance for the Protection of the Theater and citizens signed a petition for its reconstruction during the protest.
