In a recent meeting with Kosovar expatriates, Prime Minister Albin Kurti praised the economic and political progress that the state of Kosovo has achieved in the last two years.

The Kosovar Prime Minister seems to have chosen humorous words to address the expatriates gathered in the premises of the prime minister’s office in Pristina, when saying that their gathering would mark the first anniversary of the so-called “Open Balcony” in the prime minister’s office.

Media in Kosovo alluded that Kurti’s choice of words was a hint towards Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama and the initiative of “Open Balkans”.

Throughout the meeting with the Kosovar expatriates, Kurti said that the space of the government facility, which was once unused, has now become a pleasant hotspot for receptions and meetings.

“Even a year later, our balcony continues to be open, tonight, for our dear expatriates, for you compatriots. We are celebrating the first anniversary together. We will meet again many other times,” Kurti told participants.

The Kosovar premier went on to reveal some important statistical facts regarding Kosovo’s progress in the economy.

“We have made important steps in economic development, attracting foreign investments and creating jobs. The average economic growth in these two years was 7.35% of the gross domestic product. Tax revenues have increased by 2/3, without changing the fiscal policy, and exports and foreign direct investments have doubled. This year is expected to be the first year when exports will exceed the figure of 1 billion euros,” Kurti stated.

Alongside the Prime Minister, other ministers and vice-ministers of the Government of Kosovo were part of the meeting as well as esteemed personalities from all fields of occupations such as artists, activists, representatives of the associations that operate in the diaspora and young political representatives.
