Prime Minister Edi Rama said at the meeting of the Socialist Party Extended Assembly that by the end of the year Albania can reach the number of 10 million foreign visitors.

According to the prime minister, this means a lot for Albania, as it means that 10 million foreign consumers have come to the country, which translates into a very high consumption, while he added that in 2024, Albania will reach 20 million tourists.

“This is an exemplary Party which has consistently done what all branches of the Party should do after every victory. I think it is worthwhile that on the eve of the SP congress at the beginning of December, we also make an overview of the economic and political situation, in view of our challenges. Starting from the increases and seeing in them the extraordinary potential that Albania has.

We have reached a figure that not many years ago would have seemed unimaginable and in the same time we have managed in October, which is not the peak of the season, to have a surprising jump in the number of tourists who have entered Albania. More than 80% have come, from January to October we touched the figure of 9 million tourists.

If this trend continues until the end of the year, we will approach the figure of 10 million tourists, which is very significant for Albania, because there are 10 million foreign consumers. This translates into very high consumption. In 2024 we will reach 20 million tourists, it seems impossible, but today Albania is at a new level, a new gate has been opened”, said Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The Prime Minister at this meeting talked about medical students who are claiming to have studies at zero cost paid by the Albanian taxpayers to then go and serve in Germany.

Rama said that if the students have made up their minds to go abroad then they have to pay the fee, which is not full anyway. He said that in this sector, the state cannot sit back and watch and prepare students who, as soon as they finish school, leave to provide services abroad.

“Medicine, the cost of medical studies in Albania is 1/16 of the real cost and there is no comparison with the cost of studies in Germany. One of the reasons that there is a problem with doctors in Germany today is the very high cost of studies. Great, then why do all of you who want to do your studies at almost zero cost, get a degree because the real cost is covered by everyone’s taxes, and then you want to flee to Germany as soon as you finish. What does the Albanian tax system pay for, for the German people? We have a system in the master’s school, which is clear that whoever graduates is obliged to work here. How can it be possible for us to accept!

If you want to go to Germany, you have to pay the fee, which is not the full fee, but another fee. Get your degree then go to Germany. But if you’re going to get the degree with the fee paid by the Albanian taxpayers, you have an obligation to pay back the investment they made in you for a period of up to 5 years. In such a sector, we cannot sit and watch how students spend their years at university and then leave,” said Rama.
