While paying a visit to the site, where the first day of open vaccinations is taking place at the health center of Dimal, PM Edi Rama has called on citizens to get the vaccine.
“The new strand [Delta] is an aggressive variant. It spreads quickly and it’s dangerous, when it infects those that haven’t been vaccinated. Vaccination doesn’t make an individual 100% untouchable to the virus, but it makes the virus much weaker,” – stated Rama, while assessing the way his government managed the pandemic as effective.
The prime minister also touched on the benefits of vaccination, saying that those who get the vaccine have a much easier time facing the COVID-19 virus, without hospital admissions or other health complications.
Data from the Ministry of Health show that on a national scale, there are currently 156 active cases that have been infected with the COVID-19 virus, whereas the number of victims from the virus has dropped significantly compared to previous months. The Ministry of Health has reported a total of 2.456 victims from COVID-19 in Albania, since the beginning of the pandemic in our country.
Albania has administered over 1 million vaccines, according to the ministry.
Vaccination will be open for all citizens interested to get a vaccine for the rest of the week, – part of a government initiative to promote protection against COVID-19.
