Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood, Olivér Várhelyi.
The meeting took place today before the start of the EU-Western Balkans Summit.
Through a reaction on the “X” social network, Várhelyi said that after the success of the first phase of legal revisions, also known as “screening”, the EU is ready to open the first negotiating chapters with Albania.
“As we finished the screening exercise, we are ready to open accession negotiations on Fundamentals – Cluster 1 – in the framework of an Intergovernmental Conference still this year,” wrote Várhelyi.
