Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the Appeal decision that upholds the one-year prison sentence for Democratic Party deputy Ervin Salianji.

Through a post on X, Rama states that “today was exercised for the first time by the courts of the country the right sanctioned in the law for the criminal punishment of the most heinous category of defamation, false accusation, related to a story from a few years ago shocked the entire public opinion through a criminal staging against the leader of the Justice Reform process and the Socialist Party itself as the leading force of that reform that produced the implacable hostility of those frightened by a New Justice”.

According to Rama, this is a good day for the truth, thanks to the new justice that has started to strike left and right, walking straight on the path of equal law for all.

Rama’s reaction

After 34 years of unlimited sovereignty as a state within the state, the self-proclaimed Kingdom of the Shpifaraks has threatened thousands and thousands of lives of people and families and polluted the public environment of Albania every day, slandering the big and small with the output of the promiscuous mouths of our political and media mezhelis, through the extreme abuse of Freedom of Speech and the triumph of Freedom of Defamation as a monstrous social cancer, which has its epicenter in the vital body of parliamentarians of Albania, where those who have made the laws against defamation (and have legislated the false accusation as a criminal offense against justice) are also their most vicious and fearless offenders.

In this country where for 34 years no one has remained alive or dead without being polluted by the river sludge of those daily outings, and where innumerable defamation trials against politicians last for years and then return to nothing when the defamers are punished with some symbolic fines, playing the role of victims of an imaginary regime and slandering even worse as soon as they receive the ridiculous sentence. Today the courts of the country exercised for the first time the right sanctioned by law for the criminal punishment of the most heinous category of defamation, false accusation, in connection with a story that a few years ago shocked the entire public opinion through a criminal staging against the leader of the Justice Reform process and the Socialist Party itself as the leading force of that reform that produced the implacable hostility of those frightened by a New Justice; which was born and is finally growing out of the hands of politics that controlled justice since the declaration of the independent Albanian state, where an individual with political power was never sentenced by an independent justice, until the New Justice began to strike left and right, walking straight in the path of equal law for all!

The truth took a long time but finally it did not forget to come, and despite today’s court decision and the legal punishment of a prominent politician for the tireless disinformation activity up to the criminal form of False Impeachment, through a file of fabricated evidence of false testimony, will not change anything in the cancerous activity of Defamation that poisons the blood of Albanian society more and more every day thanks to the countless digital channels of disinformation, this is a good day for the Truth.

We socialists in the government have given up for years any defamation lawsuits against journalists and this will not change for many reasons, but if the moral damages and untold pain of our families coming from unscrupulous media actors, we are ready to we bear them as the cost of freedom of all media actors, we are not and will never be ready to withdraw from court proceedings against slanderers dressed in suits and party flags and armed with divisive and hateful hatred, which for 34 years has been producing the most disgusting utterances of the mouth. Undoubtedly, this is a completely unequal war, where in this case the governing majority is a negligible minority in front of the mountains and rivers of slander, but we will never ever accept the parallel Kingdom of the Slanderers as a fatal consequence of coexistence in one state democratic.
