Kosovo police said that in two separate cases on September 11, they discovered contraband goods near the border between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to the announcement, the first case occurred in the Serbia-Kosovo border zone, namely in the area of Kamenica, a vehicle with Kosovo license plates was stopped, which “was observed illegally entering Kosovo”.
During the control of R.M.’s vehicle, a citizen of Kosovo, suspected contraband goods were discovered.
Meanwhile, the second case happened on the Stublina-Dobërqan road in Gjilan, where the Police tried to stop a vehicle with Serbian license plates, which was being driven by F.M, a citizen of Serbia.
“In an attempt to avoid the control of the Task Force unit and disobeying the orders of the Police, in addition to endangering the police officers, the same while driving lost control over the vehicle, going off the road,” the announcement said.
The police said that in this car they found various contraband equipment, “where the approximate market value is around 20,000 euros”.
Even in the past, law enforcement authorities have discovered contraband goods in the border zone between Kosovo and Serbia.
They also said that they have closed several alternative roads in the border zone between Kosovo and Serbia, which are believed to have been used to cross smuggled goods.
