Police publishes measures’ plan for national team’s matches: Roads that are blocked

The State Police has made public the plan of measures taken to guarantee order and public safety before, during and after the two international football matches, which will take place at the “Air Albania” stadium in Tirana. The matches will be between the teams Albania and the Czech Republic, on November 16, 2024, and Albania and Ukraine, on November 19, 2024.

The State Police has prepared the following measures:

  • Escorting and providing football players of the Czech and Albanian team, starting from Rinas airport, to the hotel, stadium and return;
  • Carrying out detailed checks for unauthorized citizens, prohibited items and items before entering the stadium;
  • Organization of services to guarantee public order, both inside the stadium and in the territory of the city of Tirana;
  • Provision of emergency service routes and management of road traffic in the city.

Also, the State Police has announced that vehicle traffic restrictions will be applied on some roads near the stadium, from 15:00 until the end of the match. The streets that will be blocked include Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, Pope Gjon Pali II Street, and several other streets close to the stadium.

Roads that will be blocked:

*”Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, 20 m above the Dajti bridge;

* “Pope John Paul II” street; * “Dervish Hima” street, near the US Embassy;

* “Asim Zeneli” street, near the US Embassy;

* “Themistokli Gërmenji” street;

* “Ismail Qemali” street, Liceu intersection;

* “Mustafa Matohiti” street, near “Kosova” school;

* “Jul Variboba” street, near the post office; * “Lekë Dukagjini” street, near the former Guard of the Republic;

* “Avdyl Frashëri” street, near Libri Universitar intersection.

To prevent incidents, there will be detailed control of fans before entering the stadium. Likewise, the Police appealed to citizens and fans to be vigilant to avoid fraud with ticket prices and warned of the legal consequences of ticket forgeries.

If illegal incidents or situations occur, the Police request that citizens report immediately to the emergency number 112.

For the success of this activity, the State Police has engaged hundreds of police officers, who will ensure order and public safety throughout the duration of the international matches.
