“The big fish eats the smaller fish. For the first time in Albania. We’ll eat the big fish,” – this was the declaration of former US ambassador to Albania, Donald Lu, a few months before the US Department of State made the non-grata declaration back in February 14th 2018, for the former Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla because of his involvement in corruptive affairs.
The statement made by the U.S department of state said that:
“Apart from this designation for Mr. Llalla, the Secretary also publicly declares the wife of Mr. Lalla, Ardjana Llalla, his daughter, Eni Llalla and his other children, non-American citizens”
A few weeks later, on April 16th 2018, the U.S. Department of State would stop, under the same reasoning and motivation, the entry to US soil, to the former Socialist MP Tom Doshi, as well as his wife and children.
On July 30th 2019, the US Department of State declared persona non-grata, the Mayor of Durres at the time, Vangjush Dako, including his family. The reasoning behind this decision was the involvement of this Socialist high government official in corruptive affairs.
Earlier, the former US ambassador to Albania, Donald Lu has declared that the US embassy during the time of his serving as ambassador, has refused the American visa to several Judges and Prosecutors, regarding whom the US Department of State possessed information that linked them to the world of crime and corruption. At the time, the US embassy assigned the duty and responsibility to discover such names and political personalities, to the vetting process.
