Triangular-shaped castle by the sea in Porto Palermo is one of the favorite tourist destinations.

The castle of Ali Pasha has a special architecture and is well-preserved, in today’s times, to tell its history through rooms and other premises.

“I really liked the beautiful castle with a wonderful landscape and it was very interesting our visit to it. Before we left Italy we saw several guides about the most interesting places to visit and Porto Palermo was one of them,” said one Italian tourist.

“I’m from Netherlands and I’m visiting Albania for 9 days, today I visited Porto Palermo and the castle and it was impressive, really fantastic. I hadn’t heard or read about it before, I saw it on Google Maps and decided to visit it, I would recommend this place to other vacationers,” said a boy.

The castle is a gift from Ali Pasha, to his favorite girlfriend Vasiliqi. Their love story and age difference attracts foreign visitors the most.

“The castle was impressive and beautiful in terms of the history behind it, which was built to withstand attacks and the love story that he has since he built it for his wife, Vasiliqi,” said one boy.

“I really liked it too, it was very interesting how they designed it back then and that it has lasted all these years. Let’s say that I found it impressive that his wife was 17 years old and he was 74, but I found it interesting to see different cultures and what Albania is like,” said a girl.

The castle of love is visited by an average of 150 tourists per day, mostly Italians.
