The administrator of the American Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, stated that the EU is leading the dialogue because of the final destination of Kosovo.

In an interview on the “Context” show on ATV, she said that the USA is the defender of the interests of the people of Kosovo, that together with the EU, would ensure and lead the talks.

“It is right that the EU is leading this dialogue because of the final destination of Kosovo. The US is working closely with Mr. Lajçak, and I think it is important for the people of Kosovo to know that the USA is the protector of its interests, and has been doing this for a long time. The friendship between our two people is unshakable. This friendship has already been valuable for both countries. So, rest assured that the principles that we have publicly articulated are the ones that we, together with the EU, will ensure and will guide the negotiations,” said Power.

She also said that EU emissary Miroslav Lajcak is engaging with the parties strongly and as a result, she says that there has been progress.

“Some things that no one thought were possible have already happened, and I hope that in six months will be achieved even more than that,” said Power.
