President of the Republic Bajram Begaj extended his congratulations today to Catholic believers on the election of the new Pope.

“Congratulations to Albanian Catholics and Catholics around the world on the election of the new Pope!” wrote President Begaj on his official accounts on platform X and Facebook.

“I am confident,” the President stated, “that His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, will contribute with all his strength and authority to the noble cause of strengthening peaceful coexistence among all faiths.”

On behalf of the Albanian people, President Begaj wished that Pope Leo XIV be under God’s protection in fulfilling his sacred mission at the helm of the Vatican.
