President Bajram Begaj has decreed the date of May 11, 2025 for the holding of parliamentary elections.

“The President of the Republic decided to respect the request of the CEC and set the date May 11, 2025 as the date for holding the elections for the Assembly of Albania”, says the decree signed by the President.

In the consultations with the president about the date of the elections a few days ago, the small parties proposed May 4 to hold the general elections.

The head of PAA, Agron Duka, in a communication to the media after consultations with the president, said that the goal is for the elections to be held before the European Political Community, which is held on May 9 and gathers in Tirana the leaders of the European Union, the Western Balkans, Great Britain and Turkey.

“We proposed the date of May 4, given that on May 9 there is an event that gathers the prime ministers of Europe and the date of May 11 would be inappropriate as it could be prejudiced,” said Duka.
