President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has assessed the actions of the Kosovo Police as legitimate, which, on May 26, enabled the new mayors of the northern municipalities – Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok – to enter the facilities of the municipal offices.
Osmani emphasized that “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo is inviolable, inalienable and indivisible” and according to her “it is protected with all the means defined by the Constitution and the law”.
“The actions of the Kosovo Police against the illegal structures of Vucic’s criminal gangs are legitimate, in fulfillment of their constitutional duties and in defense of all citizens, without distinction,” Osmani wrote on Facebook.
She added that “the stability, longevity and success of these actions also depend on coordination with the allies who were and remain guarantors of our sovereignty and independence”.
The new Albanian mayors were assisted by the Kosovo Police, after groups of local residents in these Serb-majority municipalities objected to their going to the offices previously used by Serbian officials.
