Prime Minister Edi Rama has been honoured by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a post on Facebook, Prime Minister Rama expressed his gratitude, stressing that this recognition represents the highest level of respect and appreciation ever bestowed on an Albanian prime minister by a friendly country.
“I am deeply moved by this unimaginable surprise and extraordinary honour from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The awarding of the highest medal of this friendly nation, which bears the name of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed, is the greatest mark of respect and recognition ever granted to an Albanian prime minister. I accepted it humbly, with great pride for Albania and deep gratitude to a great friend of the Albanian people, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, as well as to every Albanian who has entrusted me with the leadership and representation of our shared homeland,” Prime Minister Rama wrote.
Prime Minister Rama has been in the United Arab Emirates since yesterday. The visit is taking place in the context of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 (ADSW).
Rama noted that the international forum has brought together heads of state and government, business leaders, and representatives of civil society to discuss the challenges and prospects of sustainable development at the global level.
